Cigna Is Leaving Florida’s ACA Market in 2027: What to Do Next

Have a Cigna individual or family health insurance plan? Cigna is discontinuing these medical plans for 2027, including Florida coverage purchased through HealthCare.gov or directly from the insurer.[1]
Your 2026 coverage can continue through December 31, 2026, as long as you remain eligible and pay required premiums. This announcement concerns individual medical coverage; it does not end Cigna employer-sponsored medical plans or individual dental plans.[1]
When should you choose a new plan?
Open Enrollment runs November 1, 2026–January 15, 2027. Choose your replacement plan by December 15, 2026, for a January 1 start, and pay any required first premium by the insurer’s deadline.[2]
Whether you live in Fort Lauderdale, St. Lucie County, or elsewhere in Florida, review your options before your current plan ends. Read notices from Cigna and the Marketplace carefully rather than assuming next year’s coverage will meet your needs.
What should you compare?
Before enrolling, check these three things:
- Your doctors and hospitals: Confirm participation in the specific plan’s network.
- Your prescriptions: Check each medication’s coverage, cost, and approval requirements.
- Your budget: Compare the monthly premium, deductible, copays, and out-of-pocket maximum.
Plan availability depends on your ZIP code. A familiar insurance company name does not guarantee the same benefits or provider network.
